Public Lectures

Clemente Lecture Series 2008

Select evenings of the 2008 Clemente Course are open to the public to offer a lecture & slide series from humanities disciplines that address the theme of the course: "With Liberty & Justice for All". These presentations are geared toward general audiences that included our students, their invited guests and members of the of the general.

Presentations are relatively informal and offer opportunities for engagement with the speakers. The events have been very engaging in previous sessions, the filled-to-capacity audience interacting and providing their own particular expertise.

Salons

As part of our ongoing community outreach, our illustrious faculty has offered their learned insight for your benefit in what Encyclopedia Britannica describes as "a fashionable assemblage of notables (as literary figures, artists, or statesmen) held by custom at the home of a prominent person" (Britannica.com).

In our close-knit community, prominence translates to people willing to open their homes, hovels, or gathering-places to their neighbors in an effort to keep life's dialog alive. In this case, the dialog would focus on areas of refinement: art, music, literature and views of history not (necessarily) commonly held.

Games Fundraiser

We have in the works plans for a game day to take place at various Port Townsend gathering places (tba here as commitments are made). The games will be designed to sharpen the intellect and enliven the imagination. This will take place within the next year to help continue the Clemente Course through 2008.
